Connect TMJ assessment, occlusion and multidisciplinary rehabilitation through the Rocabado concept.
With Prof. Mariano Rocabado, Dr. Roberto Gutiérrez and Dr. María Fernanda Gutiérrez

Course information
Advanced Functional Dentistry examines the Rocabado concept through anatomy, differential diagnosis and clinical case review. Follow the relationship between the temporomandibular joints, craniovertebral region and functional occlusion before considering rehabilitation.
The recorded sequence moves from functional and dynamic anatomy into CBCT protocols, vertical dimension and craniovertebral radiology. The final lessons focus on multidisciplinary communication, perspectives from other specialties and collecting clinical photographs and videos.
The DentalEDX edition contains 13 lessons totaling 16 hours and 58 minutes. It is intended as advanced continuing education for clinicians with a foundation in dental diagnosis; manual techniques require appropriate professional training and scope of practice.
Who this course is for
Build on your existing diagnostic knowledge with a course that connects dental findings and rehabilitation perspectives.
Explore vertical dimension and functional occlusion in the context of the patient’s joint and craniovertebral findings.
Review differential diagnosis and imaging protocols before discussing a coordinated treatment plan.
Develop a shared approach to clinical records and communication between dental and rehabilitation professionals.
The Rocabado concept
The tricentric concept considers craniovertebral, craniomandibular and occlusal relationships together.
Explore this framework as taught by the faculty, then examine its use in case discussions. Keep the patient’s history, examination and imaging findings central to the assessment rather than treating a single observation as a complete diagnosis.
A shared assessment gives the dental and rehabilitation team a clearer starting point.

Your faculty
Explore the Rocabado concept through physical therapy and dental perspectives, with individual contributions to imaging, occlusion and team-based care.

DPT · Physical therapy and craniofacial rehabilitation
A physical therapist and specialist in orthopedic manual therapy, Mariano Rocabado has held professorships at the University of Chile and Universidad Andrés Bello. He founded the Rocabado Institute for Biomedical and Health Sciences. His teaching and publications focus on head, neck and facial pain and the relationship between the craniovertebral and craniomandibular systems.

Dentist · Functional occlusion and rehabilitation
Roberto Gutiérrez practices in Chile at the Gutiérrez dental clinic. His teaching examines the dental side of multidisciplinary TMD care: clinical assessment, vertical dimension, splint therapy and coordination of functional rehabilitation. In this course he connects diagnostic findings with case-based treatment discussions.

Dentist · Multidisciplinary diagnosis and planning
María Fernanda Gutiérrez is a dentist at Roberto Gutiérrez A. y Asociados in Chile and has completed Level III training with the OBI Foundation in the United States.
