Restorative & Esthetic Dentistry
Connect smile analysis, material selection and adhesive techniques in a conservative restorative plan.
With Dr. Edward McLaren and faculty

Course information
Study facial, gingival and dental relationships before moving into photography, Photoshop smile design and the bonded functional esthetic prototype. Dr. Edward McLaren and the contributing faculty connect visual analysis with the practical decisions behind restorative treatment.
Explore veneer and crown selection, contemporary ceramics, conservative preparation, dentin sealing and direct composite techniques. Shade communication, digital teamwork, adhesion and finishing complete the sequence, with recorded discussions for further review.
Who this course is for
A broad restorative program for clinicians who want to connect diagnosis, design and material handling.
Build a structured approach to smile analysis, preparation and direct or indirect restoration.
Explore esthetic planning, restorative prototypes and material decisions for more extensive rehabilitation.
Improve the shared language of shade, photography, surface characteristics and digital communication.
Esthetic planning
Facial context, gingival relationships and individual tooth characteristics inform the restorative plan.
The program connects macro- and micro-esthetics with photographic records, a proposed smile design and a functional prototype. Material and preparation choices follow that assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all restoration.
Analysis, communication and material selection belong in the same treatment plan.
What you’ll learn
Assess facial, oral, gingival and dental relationships at both macro and micro scales.
Explore dental photography, Photoshop smile design, prototypes and shade communication.
Compare veneer and crown indications, ceramic materials, preparation designs and direct composites.
Review dentin sealing, adhesion, cementation and the final surface treatment.
Restorative design
Use the esthetic analysis and prototype to consider restoration type, preparation extent and communication with the laboratory. Dedicated lessons then address direct composite alternatives and adhesive delivery.
